It must be in the Genes

Hannah is my lovely niece. She has had so many pictures taken of her in her short life, that picking up her toy camera is like second nature. I like this picture a lot for a number of reasons but one of which is because her eye can just be seen through the lens of the camera focussing on me. I saw the opportunity to take a nice impulsive portrait with my new Leica and as soon as I put my camera to my eye, she instinctively picked her camera up and photographed me photographing her. I think the picture captures her playful nature. It also shows off her nice new cardigan knitted by Nanna Brenda.

My fave skateboarding picture from Valencia

28-04

I like this picture because of the little girls that are sitting on the side of the bowl watching; I feel they make the picture. I like the way they are sitting cross legged, intently observing. I focused on them more than the skateboarder to show that this sport can be as much about spectating as taking part and its also unusual to see females of any age at these places (it is in the UK anyhow). The skateboarder is slightly out of focus (unintentional) which helps to emphasise that this picture is not necessarily about him. The fathers have had their heads chopped off but that was not intentional and the picture may have been better if they were in it completely.
